Nowadays, the production of potentised preparations is laid down in the European Pharmacopoeia, so that the quality of the starting materials used and modern purity regulations of pharmaceutical processes are always ensured. The principle of the potentisation process can be summarised as follows:

So-called mother tinctures (mostly ethanolic extracts of plant or animal source material) or mineral source materials are diluted step by step and moved rhythmically. It is precisely through the rhythmic movement in each potentising step that the special qualities of the source materials are to be intensified. This results in a preparation that is not only intended to have an effect on the purely substantial level.
