Pharmaceutical Development

Our group "Pharmaceutical Development" has the task to develop new medicinal products from natural substances for the integrative treatment of cancer patients. We conceive these preparations on the basis of anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature. We use extraction processes from anthroposophic pharmacy and explore them using scientific methods. We also take pharmacological data and therapeutic experience into account.

In addition to mistletoe, Rudolf Steiner also recommended various other medicinal plants (Christmas rose, stinking hellebore, Iceland moss) as well as certain substances of zoological origin (toad venom, diadem spider) for the treatment of certain types of cancer. However, some of thesenotes have not yet been realized and are an inspiring source for our projects.

Our current focus is on the following plants and herbal raw materials respectively:

- Mistletoe (Viscum album L.) is extracted on the one hand by aqueous fermentation and on the other hand the lipophilic components of mistletoe are obtained as a resinous extract ("glue-like substance"),

- Larch resin (larch turpentine; Larix decidua L.) and pennywort (Lysimachia nummularia L.),

- Stinking hellebore (Helleborus foetidus L.)
